Do you really paint two coats, or is the second coat extra?

Accepted Answer

Two full coats of premium Sherwin-Williams is our standard on every job, never a single thin pass to cut corners, and it is already in the price we quote. One coat almost always leaves the old color flashing through and burns out faster, so we do not offer it as the 'budget' option. The only time we go to three is when you are covering a deep or dark color, and we will tell you that up front in writing before we start.

Question 2

How long before I can hang things and live normally in a freshly painted room?

Accepted Answer

Premium latex is dry to the touch in about an hour and walls are recoat-ready in two to four. You can usually move furniture back and hang light items the same evening, but the paint keeps curing for two to three weeks, so we ask you to go easy on scrubbing, leaning, or taping anything to fresh walls during that window. We will walk you through which rooms are ready as we finish each one.

Why does the prep take a whole day before any color goes on?

Accepted Answer

Because the prep is the job. The first day we sand glossy trim dull, fill every nail hole, caulk the seams, spot-prime bare or patched spots, and mask off your floors and fixtures. That is the day that decides whether the finish still looks sharp in three years or starts peeling at the trim line in one. Skipping it is exactly why the cheap repaint down the street is already flaking, and it is the one thing we will never rush.

Question 4

My house was built before 1978. Does that change anything?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it matters. Pre-1978 homes can have lead in the old paint and trim, so we use EPA Lead-Safe certified crews that contain and clean every speck of dust before, during, and after the work. A lot of the older Dilworth and Plaza Midwood plaster and trim we paint falls in this category, and handling it the safe, certified way is non-negotiable for us, not an upsell.

How does your pricing and estimate work?

It starts with a free in-home color consultation where we bring the fan deck, look at the actual light in your rooms, and measure. You get one written, line-item estimate broken out by room and surface, so you can see exactly what you are paying for. The number we quote is the number you pay, with no surprise charges tacked on at the end, the way three estimates from us would each be apples-to-apples.

Can you make my old kitchen cabinets look new without replacing them?

Accepted Answer

That is one of our favorite jobs. We take the doors off, degrease and sand them, then spray a factory-smooth lacquer finish with full dust containment so there are no brush marks anywhere. Rehung, the kitchen reads brand-new for a fraction of the cost of replacement, and we plastic off the space and run dust control so you can keep living in the house while we do it.

Question 7

Will my exterior paint actually hold up to Charlotte sun and Lake Norman humidity?

Accepted Answer

It will if it is prepped right. On exteriors we power-wash, scrape back to bare wood, spot-prime, replace soft or rotted trim, and caulk every seam before two coats go on, and we choose the paint and sheen rated for a south-facing Charlotte summer and lakefront humidity. We do not paint over failure, because a coat that hides peeling just peels again. Prepped our way, the next repaint is years out, not seasons.

Question 8

What does your warranty cover, and is it actually in writing?

Accepted Answer

Every job is backed by a written 3-year workmanship and adhesion warranty. If the work cracks, peels, or loses adhesion within three years, we come back and make it right, no argument, and the warranty travels with the house if you sell. It is in writing on purpose, because a promise you cannot point to later is not really a promise.
